When will my pieces be ready for pickup? How do I know when to come?

We're working hard to get your pieces to you as soon as possible. It usually takes to our team 4-5 weeks to process all work. You'll receive an email with designated pick-up times depending on where you've took your class. Thanks for your patience!

I didn't receive a pick up email, what happens next?

Please provide us with your order number and email used for the reservstion.As per our website, it takes 4 to 5 weeks from the date of your event for work to be ready. Note that it can take upwards 5 weeks sometimes to receive a notification (pick-up email) that your pieces are ready. Delays may be due to a high volume of firings or other operational abnormalities.Verify that your email is correct (email that you used to book or purchase extra piece at the workshop or if another person has booked for you). Pick-up email is sent to the same address used to book the event.If it has been more than 5 weeks however, please select "Need more help" and one of our studio team members will get back to you with information about your pieces and their processing status.

I took a workshop a few months ago and am wondering if you still have my work?

All pieces that are not collected after 30 days are donated, due to limited space in the studio. Thanks for your understanding.

None of the pick up times work for me. What can I do?

Did you have a look at our pick up hours by location?We understand that things happen, and we do our best to accommodate everyone. To ensure an optimal learning environment, we aim to minimize interruptions during class time. Frequent pauses can disrupt both students and teachers. If you're unable to retrieve your belongings, a friend, colleague, or family member can pick them up. Simply forward them our pickup email notification :)

I attended a class in May or June of this year. It has been over 3 months. Can I still pick up my pieces?

Please note that all work must be picked up after 30 days.We wait an additional week, after which we donate all artworks. If you haven't picked up your ceramic pieces, it's likely not in the studio after 37 days.We always suggest having someone else pick up your artwork if you are unavailable.

Our studios are routinely cleaned to minimize dust, which can be harmful to anyone if injested. Even though we had many pregnant individuals attend classes, if you have concerns, please speak with your doctor and reach out to us for more info.

Who are the instructors and what is their background?

Our instructors are professionnal ceramists from diverse background. Some are even past students that have acquired the skills needed to teach over a period of time. You can visit our team page to get to know our teachers.

What are the facilities and equipment available at Atelier Forma?

Studio tools (such as sponges, ribs, needles etc.) and pottery wheels are accessible to our members and students. All student work is fired by our staff, therefore all kilns are accessible by our technical team only.

There is no gallery but we have a boutique on St-Laurent open to the public for purchases.

Most of our workshops are open to beginners, unless otherwise indicated. We have variety of different options: intro to wheel throwing or handbuilding, plant and planter, kurinuki workshop and many other seasonal workshops. You can book them on our workshop page.

Is it possible to reserve a place for an intro workshop?

We do not take reservations for our workshops, as they fill up quickly, plus we offer many different dates and often have availabilities. You can book a workshop on our website. The best is to sign up for our newsletter which you can find at the bottom of any page of our website.

Unfortunately, we do not have waiting lists as we very rarely receive cancellations. However, please check the class you are interested in 48 hours before it starts, just in case a spot becomes available

Is it necessary to make a reservation for a workshop today?

We require that students reserve class online prior to coming. Based on the information on our website, registration for all events closes 30 hours before the event.  However, if you are accompanying a registered participant, we can offer you a spot, provided there is availability in that particular workshop.

Do you offer intermediate (level 2) class at your studio?

Yes, we offer intermediate classes, typically available at each location. Occasionally, we may substitute this class with another; however, it will be reinstated in the subsequent session if there is sufficient demand.

When will the 4-week, 6-week and other multiweek wheel throwing classes be available to book?

We publish 4-week classes every month whereas 6-week classes are published every month and a half.If a given class your interested in is not available on our website currently, it has either not been published yet or is sold out. Hint: You can see if it is sold out by verifying the availability of other timeslots for the same class.Please note many classes fill up quickly so it's best to subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed about upcoming events as we send a newsletter out every time we open a new session.

I come to see your studio and register at same time?

We do not offer bookings in person. All registration must be done online on our website.

I reserved an event but I have other people who would like to join. On the website it looks like there are no more places available? Can they come and pay at the studio?

Our registration closes 30 hours prior to the workshop start time. There is  always a chance that we will have additional spots, but we cannot guarantee. You can bring your friends and if there is  space a the  workshop we will happily  accept them and they  can pay  at the studio.

When registering for a two-week introductory pottery workshop, it's possible to choose the start date, but how do we find out when the next course is?

Your selected date is the first day of your multi-week session. The class runs on the same day and time the following week.You can also find this info as a first phrase under the workshop description.

Are the classes and workshops taught in French, English, or both languages?

All our workshops and classes are led by bilingual instructors and are therefore taught in both French and English, unless otherwise specified in the product description.

I signed up for a 4-week ' Introduction to Wheel Throwing class ',  I was wondering if throughout this cours, I get to learn how to glaze and fire my pieces as well? (Start to finish process)

Yes, during the 4-week 'Introduction to Wheel Throwing' class, you will learn how to glaze your pieces. Please note that the firing process is handled by our studio staff for safety and technical reasons.On the last day of your session, you will have the opportunity to glaze all the pieces you created during the course.

I would like to reserve a 2-hour spot for the student open studio tomorrow; however, I don't see any available times. Would it be possible for you to make the reservation for me?

Unfortunately, the student open studio is fully booked for tomorrow, which is why you couldn't see any available spots. These sessions can be booked up until the last minute, so if the option isn't showing on the website, it means all spots are taken.

I've signed up for a workshop and I'm wondering if there's anything I need to bring with me?

Great to hear you're joining us! Here are a few things to keep in mind for your workshop or class:Nail Length: To prevent any accidental marks or damage to your artwork, we suggest keeping your nails at a manageable length for the session.Attire: Please wear comfortable clothing that you won't mind if it gets a little messy. While clay usually washes out easily, it's best to avoid wearing delicate items or heels.Aprons: For single, 2-hour workshops, we'll have aprons available for you. If you're enrolled in a longer course (4 or 6 weeks), we recommend bringing your own apron to each session, as we won't have enough aprons for everyone.

This class will focus on mastering the fundamentals of centering clay, opening, pulling walls, and forming various symmetrical shapes like bowls and cylinders using the centrifugal force of the wheel.In the Handbuilding class, you will learn to create ceramic pieces using a variety of techniques that involve only your hands and simple tools. This includes methods such as pinching, coiling, and slab construction. Handbuilding allows for a wider range of organic and asymmetrical forms, and you can create functional pieces like mugs, plates, or more sculptural objects.

As per description on our website, these are the same workshops. Both workshops are offered with the same teachers and the same attention given to students as any other of our workshops. We are offering 1 community workshop per week to make it accessible to students, families, single parents, or anyone experiencing financial stress at this time.

How can I confirm with you that the clay or glaze I want to fire is correct?

We accept only cone 6 (not 06) clays and same glazes for firing services. If you are unsure if the glaze or clay you wish to fire with us is accepted, please send us a quick message via our chat with a picture of the original packaging for your clay or glaze (showing the temperature or cone number). One of our technicians will  respond after validating if it is acceptable or not.

For working from home, do you sell clay?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we sell clay at the studio. We have different types: black, porcelain, speckled, and more. We offer them in sizes from 5kg to 10kg, with prices starting at $37. We also sell recycled clay, which is a bit cheaper at $25 for 5kg. You can come in to buy during our open hours. Please check our available stock at the studio. It's available at both of our locations.

How long do your firing services typically take?

Generally, our firing services take 1 to 2 weeks for each firing stage. This means the first firing will take a maximum of about 2 weeks, followed by a maximum of 2 weeks for the second firing.

Can I work from home?

When you are sign up for class you cannot take work home to work on it. It is not allowed and you will be asked to pay for firing services to have your work finalized. However, you can purchase clay from us  by visiting either one of our locations and use our Firing services. If you need to glaze your firing service work you can book studio rental and use our glazes for which the firing service fees will apply.

What is the difference between back and front?

Our studio space at our St-Laurent location is divided into three main areas: the front studio, the boutique and the back studio.
